Her father is from Jamaica and I was born in Nigeria. We speak English at home so I wanted to read Yoruba books as part of her bedtime routine.She loves this book. She loves the artwork and enjoys the pace of the book. Although she doesn't understand, she is engaged by the images and chooses the book at bedtime. She is happy to have the book every nightI fully recommend this book but you must be able to read Yoruba as there is no English. There is a page of key words translated to yoruba at the end, but the story is in YorubaAlthough I speak Yoruba I am not the best at reading. I took my time to read it to myself (slowly) and get to know the words before reading it to my daughter.My mum read the book and loved it. She said the spelling and grammar are correct. As I said, the entire book is in Yoruba so if you dont know how to read Yoruba you may struggle with reading and pronunciation.The story itself if brilliant. Every Nigerian child has been told 'there is rice at home' when they asked their parents to buy them fast food on the way home. When i showed my sister the book we both laughed about mum always saying there is rice at home when we wanted burgers from McDonald's.I don't want to spoil the end of the book but the parents treat the kids to a favourite Nigerian snack. Also there is a classic moment in the book when the kids see a ice cream container in the kitchen....I won't spoil the bookI love this book and I would recommend.P.S. I have not been paid to write this review and I spent my own money on the book. I do not know the author. I am leaving this review because I wish someone had left a detailed review when I was trying to decide if I should buy the book.
