Suitable for doors 700-910mm wide. Resistance can be easily adjusted by rotating the knurled sleeve. The unit contains a spring mechanism that dampens the opening force of the door when reaching the limit. They are normally fitted in outward opening applications, but a bracket to suit inward opening doors is included with every stay. Finish: silver sprayed rod with dark grey brackets Box contains: stay, screws for mounting the stay to the door, outward opening bracket, screws for attaching the stay to the outward opening bracket Review: Easy to fit and it does the job nicely - I fitted this to an outward opening door from my garden office, that was previously restricted by several cabin hooks. The video shows it in action. At a stroke, I can now open the door to any amount I want and it stays there (apart from in very high winds, apparently) so it's much more useful. Took about 30 minutes. Fitting is easy once you have deciphered the rather cramped instructions. I found it easier to mount the frame foot first, then fix it to the door, but if you do this you will have to remove the frame foot temporarily to get the second screw into the door fitting. This extra step only took 1 minute and I found it more intuitive to do it this way. As others have commented there is a small amount of noise when opening the door (it is a FRICTION fit) but no more than a normal patio door opening. I don't find it unacceptable at all. You can easily adjust the amount of friction that is exerted, so on really windy days I'll dial it up a bit to see how that works. Suggestions for manufacturer: use both sides of the paper for instrutions, one for outward opening, the other for inward opening. That way you can make the font bigger and the drawings clearer too. I was really hesitant about paying so much for a fairly simple (albeit unique) item, and I hope it means high quality components were used in the making!
