How deep is it? I’m worried the ridges are too deep for my cat to reach the food.** A: I have this, and I regret buying it. My cat cannot get treats out of it because the ridges are too high and narrow. My big Maine Coons had trouble getting their mouths into the depressions, but solved this by scooping the treats out of the depressions with their paws. Temptations treats can also be dropped through the holes in the raised knobs for maximum difficulty thus requiring them to move the leaf, slide the knob over the depression, so the treats drop into it, and then slide the knob off of the depression to expose the treats. Some cats may get frustrated if you don't work them up to this gradually as the maker suggests. My cats were already accustomed to scooping food out of a Catit slow feeder with their paws, which may have made have made it easier for them to adapt. **Q: I bought these puzzle feeders for my foster cats. The adult can’t seem to figure it out and gives up, despite being hungry. Is there a trick?** A: If you are using dry food, with the cat watching, stick your finger in and flick some pieces out. That's how my cats do this and it does cause them to eat slower which is the purpose. **Q: Would this bowl be too deep for a persian cat with a very squished face? He doesn't use his paws a lot.** A: I'd say yes it would be too deep. It's about an inch and a half deep with very narrow spaces.
