The 3" extra firm was perfect. Bought one section from amazon warehouse so it was already expanded; other was new. The new one expanded to full size quickly in 15 minutes, but it felt softer than other one. But over a day or two, it "firmed" up to match the other one; so it will get firmer as foam fully expands.
