Both went without a hitch. I'm using Sony MDR7506 over the ear headphones that I've been driving with a cmoy headphone amp. My first toe into better audio quality. I was blown away by the sound. But when i used the amp and headphones on my lenovo laptop it sounded crazy better than the phone. So I went looking and came across this DAC/amp. It worked instantly on my 6p and sounded fuller than the 6p with just the cmoy. It doesn't have as much power as the cmoy does but it has enough to drive the MDR7506 60ohm's to an uncomfortably high level for most apps. And regular hear buds will blow your ears out. I tested the power draw it was between 20 and 40 milliamps depending on the source YouTube vs pumping music. So I wouldn't think there would be a big hit on the battery. On the Lenovo running Linux mint I had to do a reboot before it would work right. Which I don't know if that was needed for the DAC or if I really just needed to reboot because I haven't done so in a maybe 6 months. I couldn't tell any difference in sound quality on the Lenovo between the k1 and the cmoy amp. The Lenovo seems to have a pretty good DAC on board. But it was much better than running the headphone's straight from the headphone jack without an amp. Bolder more dynamic I think it's what the audiophile's call sound stage. The real winner is portability. This makes using over the hear headphones a real possibility here it was a bit silly. Car trips, airline travel, hell it's portable enough to use while grocery shopping. For anyone interested I can confirm this works great with an iPhone 6s Plus using this cable:Β  Lightning to MicroUSB Cable, 6'' black,for connecting DAC/Digital Camera to iPhone 7/Plus/6/6s/Plus/SE/5s/5 & iPad Normally this device would require the Camera Connection Kit (CCK) to work properly with an iPhone because most Lightning to USB cables don't have the ability to carry power and this amp is powered by your phone (it does not have it's own internal battery). Also this device uses the micro-USB connector so that would rule out any "normal" Lightning cable anyway.That would be the only Con: that your phone drains faster when using this, and you can't charge your while using it because it's using the Lightning port already.The headphones I'm using:Β  HIFIMAN HE400i This amp drives them wonderfully with a full rich sound and no need for any EQ in my opinion. I tried all the built-in EQ settings in the iPhone and it sounds best with the EQ turned off. However, I can turn this all the way to max volume without hurting my ears. My normal comfortable listening volume is 2 or 3 clicks below full. So this amp is just enough. For less efficient headphones or for those that want it REALLY loud, you may want to get a slightly more powerful DAC/AMP. Maye the FiiO Q1 although I haven't researched how much more powerful it is. The Q1 would also solve the phone battery issue as it does supply it's own power and you can disable it charging from the USB to keep it from draining your phone. ### ⭐⭐⭐ 3.0 out of 5 stars Yes it works on smartphones, but not without a powered USB hub. *by A***E on Reviewed in the United States on May 14, 2016* This WILL work with just about any Android 5 and higher device. However, this does require a POWERED hub.Now the question is, who makes a small/battery powered USB hub. If you are looking for a smartphone DAC thatis all in one, just go with the Fiio Andes or other battery powered DAC.Note: Installing USB Audio Player might make your audio stop working. Uninstall, turn OFF your phone completely and power back on to restore USB audio functionality again.Tested with: VLC player and HibyMusic they both sounded really good, although the Hibymusic Equalizer is superior, the VLC EQ sounded much flatter and lifeless. My USB Audio Player trial only crashes on my Moto X. Did not try on my Kyocera since it does not run a late enough version of Android. I will test further with my nVidia K1 tablet and a modified Nexus 7 tablet.I only tested with my Shure IEMs, I will bump it another start if I think the sound quality warrants it.
