The base has a rubber foot to make it slip resistant and it is heavily weighted to keep the stand from tipping over. As shown in the picture, it easily holds my brush and my Merkur 39C Slant Sledgehammer, which at over 4 inches is the largest and heaviest razor I own. Even though the stand is tall enough to easily accommodate a large razor, it still fits nicely on the top shelf of my medicine cabinet.
