As well as playing CDs this model features a DAB radio with the newer DAB+ included for flexibility and future stations, plus FM for legacy and local stations. The maximum volume is not as loud as you might expect from a player of this size – only one Watt per channel - but it features a Dynamic Bass Boost button to improve the sound at lower levels. There is a 3.5mm audio-in jack socket, but no headphone socket for private listening – the unit is straightforward to set up initially and instructions are supplied in many different languages. Although there is no traditional carrying handle there is a recess at the rear where your fingers fit nicely to carry the player with the speakers facing downwards, and for extra portability it can be powered by six C size batteries when not connected to mains power.
