Review: Simple, easy to use, solves a specific problem that some EV users have. - This is a battery tender and not a trickle charger. It is designed as something you can use to recharge your battery pretty quickly then put it your car battery for extended periods so that it won’t go dead. Unlike a trickle charger, it won’t try and keep charging your battery once it’s fully charged. If that’s what you need, then this is a great one. It’s super simple to use. You can even hard-wire it to the battery and leave a tail for plugging it in. I bought this to maintain voltage on the 12V system on my EV. Though our EV is our main car, we don’t drive it much, we seldom drive it far, and sometimes (especially when we go on driving vacations in our other car), it’ll sit for a week or two at a time. **Q: How does Axtra 3.6-amp battery charger compare to Battery Tender 3-amp battery charger?**
A: The Axtra acts as both a 6-volt and a 12-volt charger. However, it can also provide a constant 3-amp battery tender witch, when set, will provide a continuous charge over a long period of time. The 3-amp battery tender only provides a continuous charge but cannot provide a 6 or 12-volt charge. If you do not have a charger, I would recommend the Axtra as is it can provide both aspects.

**Q: I'm using Axtra battery charger to maintain 2 batteries over the winter. Is this Battery Tender reliable as Axtra battery maintainer?**
A: My experience with using the battery tender is nothing but good. Pretty much set it and forget it. No problems what so ever. Very easy to use, very well made, very reliable. I would for sure buy another one.

**Q: Is this over rated for motorcycles**
A: If the battery is rated less than 30 amp hrs, I would say yes. The rule of thumb is the maximum charge rate should not excede 1/10 of the battery's Amp hr rating. E.g. 20 amp hr battery should not be charged at over 2 amps

**Q: Planning to connect black to black and red to red pigtail for car battery still inside car. Confused since not sure if that’s grounded. Pls confirm?**
A: Yes, Red to Red (positive) and Black to Black (negative) is the correct connection.  Why are you worried about ground on a 12 volt car battery?

This is a battery tender and not a trickle charger. I have a great older car that isn’t driven often which results in a dead battery. Before I got this, I had to call roadside assistance 3 or 4 times last winter even though I have a car jump starter that works well but not on a completely dead battery. Since having this gadget, which I use at least once a week, my battery problem has resolved. Very worthwhile purchase. And easy to use too; I’m an old gal and it intimidated me at first. Now I look forward to lifting my car hood and attaching this to my battery all by myself!
