The stones stay cold for a long time, and they are quite large which increases the rate at which they cool your drink. You have to have a little more patience with these stones than you would with ice; they don't cool a drink as quickly as ice would, but the tradeoff is that your whiskey stays pristine.Like other reviewers have mentioned, I always feel a bit nervous about dropping one of these into the glass since they have quite a heft to them.
