Review: Great gift - So fun, great gift, not too big of a box, the instructions are good, great value Review: Easy mistake to think rover is broken - Overall, kids think this rover is cool and it does teach them about solar energy in a fun manner. That said, the kids (grade 5) put this together themselves and were outside on a super sunny day and the rover did NOTHING! When we came out to inspect it, it turned out that the black and red wiring was not making any contact to the electrodes underneath the solar panel itself. We popped the panel out of the housing and saw that the + and - were flipped to the top of the rover when they should have been at the bottom. We popped it back in the right way, inserted the wires so they touched the electrodes of the solar panel and the rovers motor started spinning immediately.
