## Questions & Answers

**Q: There is 3 different weights listed, from 11 oz to 4lb11 oz…… what does it weigh?!**
A: I just weighed myself first time I did without shield I weighed 207 and second time I did with shield I weighed 211.40 so i think it weighs 4.40 it sure does feel like it.

**Q: Would you recommend pairing this with a Machete for Home Defense?**
A: Cold Steel avoids saying that the shield can be used for any self defense purposes for obvious reasons. It is made of polypropylene so we are left to guess what would happen in various threat scenarios. I keep mine by the front door to deflect and obstruct an advancing home invader. My little Cold Steel shovel sits beside it and is razor sharp so it can do the job of a large sword or a short axe, but only if there is 'room' to swing it. Your machete idea has the same problem. A very ineffectual weapon in a  close quarters, face to face, struggle.  I recently saw a video on YT where 'experts' combat tested each kind of weapon (sword, spear, axe and so on) against the others.
None of the weapons provided any effective defense against a spear. Cold steel and others sell a wide variety of spears which are worth a look. This is the one that I bought from Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00ATUX7UG/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1   I can't say how it will perform in combat but I do believe that a 'thrust and parry' blade (or a gun) is what you need at the front door and bedside. Just my opinion.

**Q: Will this allow me to parry casuals?**
A: Yes, just make sure to remove the kick ash of war first and add the party ash of war.

**Q: Do they make a bigger version?**
A: No, the "Targe" is the largest size. If one decided to "improve" the shield, additional "materials" might be added to modify the shield to withstand higher 'threat levels' or increase it's size. I suppose that 'ballistic plate' or Kevlar matting could even be attached somehow.
There are also a wide variety of the shields used by police for (for sale) if you want to spend that kind of money to get real protection.
