Is this tape safe to use on such an old document or is another product better?** A: Functionally, this repair tape will work to repair the tear with minimal observable signs when properly applied. However, the decision whether or not to use it should be based more on the comparative value of the documents. If very valuable, it is probably worth considering consulting a document restoration expert. **Q: Would this be good for taping together a torn photograph from the back while still being able to read the text written underneath it?** A: I am not sure about using it for the photograph. Then I read some of the other comments and figured out what to do. I creased the taped back and forth a couple of times until I could see the transparent tape separate from the backing, then I pulled them apart. Worked like a charm. That said, the tape is nice.
