Review: Perfect microwave kiln for pottery - Love this little kiln. I've fired dozens of small items and tiles in it and it's produced beautiful results. It actually fits in my super small microwave while allowing me to make 2" pieces. I upgraded to this one after buying the super small one which kept exploding all of my clay and so glad I did. I pre-heat it for 1 min and pre-heat the tile in my regular oven on 200F before firing and it turns out great every time. No more destroyed pieces!

**Q: Can a microwave kiln be used to cure precious metal polymer clay projects?**
A: I haven't tried the polymer clay, but metal in a microwave would concern me. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful

**Q: How do i prep my kiln for the first time? The direc tions say to mix glass kiln wash but nothing came with it and i am not sure what the wash is.**
A: I have a similar kiln purchased from Hobby Lobby.  It came with kiln paper.  I did not use kiln wash and there was no problem.  You must use kiln paper under your glass projects or it will stick to the kiln base.  I have not used this one but I am going to do the same process as the Hobby Lobby kiln.

**Q: has anyone used the cabochon moulds with this kiln do they work together**
A: Hi, Microwave kiln is a good tool for glass thermal processing. Maybe you can have a try to use the cabochon moulds with this kiln do they work together.

**Q: Because it's big it takes longer to melt the glass, yes? and after 4 minutes,the kiln paper and the kiln base turned darker. Is that ok?**
A: Yes, it does take a minute or two longer to melt the glass.  It's fine for the kiln paper to turn darker.  My base did turn darker in a few small little spots.  I think it's okay as long as the kiln still works.  Have you had good luck with the kiln?

I got the kiln and a brand new Emerson microwave for my daughter for her 6th birthday. When the kiln came, we decided to try it out before I gave it to her. The kiln was trash. It had impurities in it of some kind. it was a red grease that seeped out during the first run and ruined the turntable and the kiln as now the kiln has a huge charred chunk in the bottom. Also, the materials we heated never got hot. Upon closer inspection, the coating they use on the inside is cracked and it won't heat up. 1. Impurities that ruined my brand new microwave turntable. 2. Impurities ruined brand new kiln by burning the bottom. 3. Kiln has massive crack on the coating and doesn't retain heat enough to work properly. This is trash and a massive let down for a heartbroken 6 year old girl.
