Review: Very nice! - Just bought this after my previous monitor's power supply went bad, and received it today. Facts Ports on this model are standard power, VGA, and DVI-D (HDCP-compliant). There is no HDMI input, which may be a problem in cases where your source only outputs YCbCr color instead of RGB (which DVI is limited to), but I have no idea how common that is. There is also no sound, but unless you have no use for sound or are on a small budget, you should get a good external speaker system anyway, as internal speakers have horrible fidelity. Impressions It comes packed with disconnected base and stand. Assembly was quick and easy with no tools, taking me about 5 minutes without ever needing to consult the included setup guide. Actually, now that I look at it closely, the guide is inaccurate, as the base and stand are separate pieces, which must be connected together in addition to, and preferably before, attaching the monitor to the stand. But the guide says only to attach the monitor to the "base" as the first step. It's wonderfully bright and clear with a digital signal. I assume the LED backlight helps with the brightness, and the absence of mercury is definitely a good thing, both from health and environmental perspectives. LEDs also have superior lifespans compared to other illumination technologies, and are very resilient to frequent on/off switching. Brief testing reveals the recovery time when switching video modes is about 2.5 seconds. Not great, but better than my previous monitor's 3 seconds. The control buttons were confusing for a moment, since there are no markings. But in fact, pressing any button other than power brings up the main menu, and from there you press the appropriate button to select a section. All of the submenus use pretty much the same button configuration for navigation, which is always listed on-screen directly above the buttons themselves. The monitor also aggressively auto-detects the input. Since I'm using DVI, it goes right to that after quickly checking for VGA (so says the OSD). Even if I tell it to switch to my non-existent VGA signal, which in theory one could do accidentally, it quickly returns to DVI, giving me a picture again in exactly 5 seconds. Overall, I'm quite happy with this. It's pretty good for the price I got.
Review: A bit different than my G245HQ - I also have the Acer G245HQ (another great monitor) and I do see a couple differences. The first is the screen size is a little bigger than the G245HQ. It is a 1920x1080 monitor with VGA and DVI. I am not sure if it's DVI-I or DVI-D, but will check here soon. It is brighter than the G245HQ, but putting brightness at 70 evens it out. The trim around the screen is smaller than the G245HQ, but is about the same total dimensional size. Only thing I don't like is the square stand. I prefer the X-stand on the G245HQ. Also the square stand cannot angle down at all, but that is fine as I need to angle them up. The way the monitor sits on the stand itself doesn't seem stable or secure, but it holds it still. Overall, maybe a 4/5 but I'm not too picky, so since it does as described, clear quality, and works perfectly, 5/5
