However, every wick from the batch I ordered was bad. They soot and sputter like crazy. I almost had a fire because it threw sparks about 5 feet away onto a roll of paper towels. **Q: What size container should I use with this size wick?** A: Best I remember the wicks burn about 3" in diameter. If your container is much bigger in diameter that that, you might want to use 2 or 3 wicks. **Q: Are the wicks dipped in soy wax, or some other wax?** A: These are coated in Paraffin wax. The only other thing these are made with is cotton (on the inner layer of the wicks). This was a great question! I hope this helps! :) **Q: Is this a good for tea lights or votive size? They looked great however burned very poorly. I almost threw them away but thought the the cause might be lousy wicks and that I might as well try drilling a narrow hole through them and installing these wicks instead (leaving the original lousy wicks in the candles).I installed 4 of these wonderful wicks into each of the two candles and they work great. They made the lousy burning candle into wonderful burning candles so two thumbs up for these wicks.
