Even removing the fantasy element, this text was extremely enlightening in almost every aspect of story telling. It helps that Deborah Chester is a successful author with an even more successful student, so it is a proven method so to speak. In this book she addresses a lot of things I was struggling with as a writer. A few highlights were character creation and introductions. Overcoming the mid-point dip. Sub-plots. Building and releasing of tension. Points of view. And even some advice on dealing with publishing. I can honestly say this book made me a better writer, gave my story much better focus and helped everything coalesce.
