## Description

If you live with pets, you live with pet hair. FURminator® professional-grade grooming solutions make the pet owner’s home happier by dramatically reducing loose hair from the undercoat. Our deShedding tools, grooming tools and hair solutions offer a grooming regimen catered to any dog or cat. The FURminator® Nail Grinder for dogs and cats is a lightweight, cordless grinder that files and smooths nails with ease. This compact, 2-speed grinder features an easy-grip handle for safe, secure trimming, and an LED light that illuminates the nail. An anti-microbial plastic finish helps keep germs and bacteria to a minimum. This tool includes two replaceable grinding bands (additional replacement bands sold separately) and 4 AA-alkaline batteries. Replace the grinding band when it appears worn or when it becomes more difficult to file your pet’s nails. Pets need their nails trimmed on a regular basis, usually monthly. Untrimmed nails can affect the comfort and overall health of your pet. Untrimmed nails can cause pets to develop sore feet, legs and hips, well as general discomfort. Use FURminator pet products for professional-quality, at-home grooming results: Brush daily to detangle and smooth fur; deShed weekly to reduce shed hair; and bathe monthly to promote healthy skin and coat while reducing shedding.

Review: Success! - Great tool. We have 2 dogs, sizes 55 and 65lbs. 55lb girl is muscley and fights against nail trims to the point that we were having to spend $20 at the vet reguarly to have hers trimmed. We had a guillotine style nail trimmer and you have to be fast and precise to get a trim done. She jerks at the last second making successful trims impossible. It still took 2 of us to trim her nails with this tool but the gradual nature of the tool make it impossible to knick or hurt your pet and you can make multiple swipes and passes, making progress each time, even with the animal pulling away at the last second. Our nailtrim fighter girl gradually calmed down as the nail grind session progressed. The noise freaked her out a bit especially at first. I think as time goes on and with regular use she will grow more comfortable with the situation. Overall A+ purchase for us. This tool came with batteries and replacement pads for under $10 which is cheaper than 1 single nail trim at the vet. You can get a lot closer to the quick and look at the nail as you go to see how close to the quick you are. Little chance of hurting your pup. Less sharp edges created on the nail compared to regular dog nail snips.
Review: Works, even for my resident spook (after some training) - Decent product. It does take a decent while to trim the nails if they are pretty long to begin with, and if you have a larger breed with thicker nails. I would like to compare it to a dremel, but I havent gotten the chance. I like the plastic guard. I can see it being especially helpful if you have a long hair dog, as hair won't wrap around. The light is also really helpful to be able to see where the quick is while you are grinding. It is rather loud, which scares a lot of dogs, but here is my experience with this: I got this for my rather spooky greyhound. The first time I turned it on several feet away from him, he PANICKED. Ran into the crate, tried to hide. Getting anywhere near him led to crying. I thought I had just wasted my money and was rather dismayed at first. If you're in this situation, here's what to do: (I clicker train, but you don't need to for this) 1. At all meal times, I turned the grinder on and set it down just far away enough from his bowl, that he was aware of it, but would still come eat. By the 4th meal (dinner on day 2), it was standing directly next to his bowl and he was eating just fine. 2. A few times a day, for about 3 or so minutes, I would get treats, and take the grinder and turn it on for just long enough that he doesn't panic, then click-treat. As I was doing this, I would increase the length that the grinder was turned on and decrease the distance away from him, making sure to treat just before he panics. 3. Mine wasn't a fan of getting his paws handled in general, so a few times a day, I would get him sitting, and touch his paw, click, treat. He went from pulling back immediately and crying, to, by the end of the second session of this, laying there calmly and letting me hold and handle his front paws. Back paws took another 2 sessions or so. 4. When he is comfortable with having his paws handled and the noise, I would repeat the routine, just touching the bottom of the running grinder to his paw, and treating, so he gets used to the vibration. From here, just work up to actually touching the grinder to his nail, and increasing the length that he lets you do this. And finally, my life changing secret, peanut butter in a kong. Seriously. He went from me being able to just barely touch the nail to the grinder, to laying calmly while I grind his nails with just this addition. All in all, I got this product on Saturday. By the following Wednesday, with maybe 20 minutes of work on this a day, he was letting me grind his nails. I never would have thought it was possible if you told me on Saturday, after seeing him crying and panicking.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Can it be used without the guard?**
A: The tool will work without the guard. We suggest using the guard for added safety as it prevents the pets hair from getting caught up in the grinder. For more help contact FURminator at PetSupport@spectrumbrands.com or at 1-800-645-5154.

**Q: WHAT SIZE BATTERIES ARE REQUIRED?**
A: Thanks for asking! This product need four AA batteries. For more help contact FURminator at PetSupport@spectrumbrands.com or at 1-800-645-5154.

**Q: Does this have the power to do big dogs with really thick nails?**
A: Good question! This tool will work on the nails of any dog. For more help contact FURminator at PetSupport@spectrumbrands.com or at 1-800-645-5154.

**Q: About how long does it take to file down one nail? I have a 15 lb puppy, who is growing. I would like a product to handle the growth & not take long**
A: Thanks for asking! How long it takes is highly dependent on the dog and how cooperative they are. If the nails are really long you can use nail clippers first then the grinder to smooth out the rough edges and get even closer to the quick. For more help contact FURminator at PetSupport@spectrumbrands.com or at 1-800-645-5154.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ LOVE IT! So much easier then using nail cutters/clippers
*by A***R on January 20, 2016*

I have five dogs...yes five. rom a small Chihuahua to a Blue Chow Chow. I normally have no problems cutting my dogs nails, but the Chow Chow is a puppy and all her nails are dark brown and I worry about cutting her quick. I ended up taking her to PetSmart to have her nails trimmed and they used a device just like this. Am I happy I got the FURminator because now I can do all my dogs nails (with the exception of the Chihuahua) quickly and easy. Unlike using cutters and then having to file them down, the grinder leaves the nails smooth and not jagged. There is a hole on each side of the clear plastic guide that you insert the dogs nail into and that keeps it from popping out or sliding side to side. One hole is big for large breeds, while the other is small for medium sized dogs. The light is very helpful in seeing what your are doing. I don't use it on the Chihuahua because her nails are just too small. To get the dogs use to the grinder's buzzing, I left it running and left it on the floor for them to inspect. They all sniffed it and after a while they did not mind having it right next to them. After a few days of doing this I was able to grind their nails within minutes with no problems. It literally takes me about 2 seconds per nail once you get use to it. One of my dogs even falls asleep as I do them. Make sure to get replacement bands: Furminator Nail Grinder Replacement Bands, 6-Pack
