How did you guys modify it to fit? Should I just cut it at the large end?** A: NO! I folded it around. Imagine taking a sock and and flipping the opening inside out. This stretches it a little bit and you should be able to work it on and then unravel it around the end of the steering rack. Or use a screw driver to work it around, like taking a tire off a bicycle wheel. With that it's not an easy task, you just have to work it on. **Q: What is ID on both ends & relaxed length?** A: The length from end to end is 185mm. The smaller ID is 9.75mm and the bigger ID is 43.5MM. **Q: will this fit a 2004 subaru impreza STI right or passenger side** A: This will fit both side. This part number is for the driver and passenger side. **Q: Is this for the drivers side or passengers?** A: driver side ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Perfect fit for 2001 Subaru Forester *by P***Y on March 19, 2019* I noticed a split boot on my kids Forester while I was changing the oil. I ordered overnight shipping on this part and it arrived on time and in good shape. The install was not hard, the most difficult part was a toss up between getting the boot on and tightening the large clamp that they supplied. I chose not to remove the tire rod end which is the proper way to do the install but then the alignment would need to be checked. Instead I put a plastic bag over the tie rod, greased the bag and slid the boot over. It was a bit of a struggle but with the help of a flat head screwdriver to help streatch it I manged. I reused the old small end spring clamp instead of the loop wire supplied. Tight quarters made it tricky to get the large clamp on but again it's doable. To remove the tie rod end I used a tool that is specific for the task, you can borrow one for free at any auto store. The boot quality is very good and the supplied clamps work well, there was no fitment issue whatever. FYI the tie rod castle nut torque is 20 Ft/Lbs. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ It surprisingly did work. *by K***Q on May 16, 2020* I bought this steering rack boot to replace one that was torn on my 2002 Subaru WRX. In terms of installation it was easier and harder simultaneously. It was harder in the aspect that if you just removed the outer tie rod arm a traditional boot would have been much easier to install. It was easier due to the fact that the car does not require an alignment now that it is installed.The installation may require a bit of luck, in order to get the boot over the adjustment bracket the boot does get stretched quite a bit. The entire time I was performing the installation I felt like I was about to tear the boot. I also found putting a tiny bit of grease on the small side of the boot helped with the installation. Didn't use the included clamps and elected for more secure hose clamps instead. FSM calls for silicone grease on the boot ends making if eytremely slippery and difficult to pull over the rack housing.Recommend stretching it out as much as possible (I applied great force and it didn't tear) then turning the end of the boot inside out about an inch stretching it owe the outside of itself. Nexy push it on the rack housing, and finally, unfold the lip. Then it can pull into position correctly without cutting.Note: I've been wrenching for years, and still cannot divine what that double hoop length of wire is for.
