Yes the handle material is some hard polymer and the blade is made out of medium quality stainless. And yes it is made in Taiwan. And let me say that I have some other knives made in Taiwan and the quality is pretty good. I mean for the price this small hunter knife takes the cake, it is cheaper than going out for dinner at a fast food joint. It is a knife you will use, it is not a collection knife. You will carry it everywhere you will end up purchasing several to have them around the house, car, shop. You will end up giving them away as gifts whoever receives this knife won't even know it was $15. The sheath is sturdy enough and the knife fits good in it. The design on this knife is right on the money, blade size is good to take on many outdoor activities. The handle is designed so most size of hands will feel comfortable holding it. I never had a cold steel knife before their merchandise didn't catch my eye. This knife has open the door to a new market for them and I hope they realize that. The pendleton lite use to be hollow ground but is now a Sabre grind (flat) of which I prefere over a hollow ground blade normally especially on inexpensive steel value knife. **Q: Will the edge chip if you baton and make feather stick with it? The pendleton Lite's edge was chipped when I made feather stick.** A: If your Pendleton Hunter chipped while making a feather stick there is definitely something wrong with the integrity of the knife as these are typically very tough and durable.
