They look like they are basically the same. I don't see the benefit of one over the other.** A: I have both the Teacher Pro and the School Pro and both work great except the teacher Pro takes longer to sharpen a pencil. Which may not be a problem for home or small use. In a classroom of 26 it is very ANNOYING. If the pencil isn't pushed in far enough - common with 7 yr olds- it takes even longer. Both will clog a little if sharpening pencils with the wrappers on them. But seems to clean out with a little manual rotating. I have had the School Pro (home use) for over 10 years. Thinking of switching them out . **Q: Can I use this pencil sharpener for colored pencils?** A: A: It is best not to use it on color pencils. Be careful not to use pencils that have plastic wrapping around them, especially the glittery covering. That extra outer layering ruins the sharpener. Your warranty might not cover damage caused by using color pencils. **Q: My daughter has gone through several pencil sharpeners because of plastic gearing mechanisms. I've been an elementary school teacher for 12 years and I get so frustrated with the burnout rate of pencil sharpeners, or how they just don't get the pencils sharp sharp. I've already gotten 3 more of these for various purposes because not only is it the best, it's a great price for a heavy duty pencil sharpener. I have never allowed colored pencils in my electric sharpeners before this year, and now I'm not afraid to let the kids get their colored pencils nice and sharp because even if it burns out in a year, the price is unbeatable. I love how it stops when it's as sharp as it's going to get with a blue light indicator. It's as loud or quiet as any other pencil sharpener. The ONLY problem is the shavings tray does not stay put. So it slowly vibrates out of place as you sharpen and the sharpener will not work without it fully in place for safety. So I just put tape on the sides, problem solved.
