I play mainly coach mode as it is the closest you can get to proper football manager. I did have pes18 which was also good, but this version has many improvements, for starters you have money coming in monthly rather than once a year which is helpful if you need new players during the halfway season. You can also decide where your income goes I.e transfer budget or players wages which you couldn't do before. You also see your manager in meetings with the board and you can decide how to answer them and the press at the start of a season. You have different weather conditions including snow! The actual matches themselves are very realistic and the details of players faces is very lifelike, great graphics. The way the players move, shoot and tackle is very good. The only complaint is the one that pes fans have already mentioned, that there is no red cards, only yellows (I might get one in time, I don't know). But that does not spoil the game for me, I've got used to it, hopefully one day, the game makers will solve this problem, but until then, I will enjoy this one. When first booted this up, thought it would just basically be the same game. How wrong I was. Subtle changes and tweaks, but they make so much difference. The big thing to take away from this is fluidity, quick passing moves and counter attacks are now possible due to this. To up the skill and difficulty, I would recommend that you change passing to fully manual as there is so much freedom in where you can play the ball. You can ping the ball down the line for your winger to chase rather than using the unreliable through ball option. The catch up bug finally is gone. If you're mbappe vs a slow defender, then it's no contest, you will just blitz past them. Shooting has also been tweaked, shots feel less floaty, there is a wider variety of different shot types. Can't wait to see what konami do on next Gen. Referees are definitely still hit and miss and the commentary is unchanged, which seems to be lazy. But overall definitely worth buying. Konami please do not change the gameplay with data packs. They ruined last year's game. There's definitely enough here to tide you over til the ps5 arrives. The pesuniverse option file is a must to correct unlicensed teams.
