It comes with a piece of velcro to put on the back of your tablet and the other side is built in to the book cover. I bought a cheap case and put the velcro on the back of that. Once the adhesive is stuck on, it's near impossible to get off so you would never be able to get a new case if you stuck it directly on your tablet. If you did get it off, it would 100% leave a really bad sticky residue. Aesthetically 5 stars. It's sturdy and great fun. However, the case itself is impractical, since it does not have a hole for the rear-facing camera -- the entire Kindle would need to be removed each time to use the camera -- and it also covers the speakers. If it had been better designed in a practical way, we would definitely have kept it, since my daughter is a Harry Potter fanatic. As it was, we needed something practical and easy to use, so we returned it. The concept is wonderful, but the actual product is just, a let down. I was enticed by the pictures, this looked to be like a very well-made book cover, with a authentic book spine feel. The material in the picture looks like it is made of canvas or cloth. Sadly, It's just all a flat printed design. None of the texture is real, and the spine does not "protrude" as it seems on the images. The colors are not as bright either.
