Maybe it was one that was returned and resold? I got an email from the company shortly after purchasing asking for positive feedback and I wrote back directly to them saying the one doesn't work and what could be done. That was 2 days ago and I haven't gotten a response yet.On a positive note shipping time was quick as always so that's a plus and the one that does work is great to have around for the winter months! I agree with other reviewers that the switch would be better served as a button that's easier to get to while wearing the hat versus a teeny switch on the side of the battery pack that's tough to feel. I haven't changed the battery yet but it appears you'd need a tiny screwdriver to be able to do that. Switch: The on/off switch is nowhere near intuitive. Could have been easily engineered to be on the outside instead of sewn in between the layers of the headband. It is not easy to turn light on/off with thick gloves, which is more likely what would be worn when this beanie is needed. E.g., a rubber dome push button would be more logical.2. No instructions on how to wash. It's not a sealed unit, so cannot be thrown in a washer. Would be better if they had separated the lighting/power module as an detachable band via Velcro or Zipper.3.
