I sprayed the inside with cooking oil for the 1st waffle but it's non-stick so I didn't spray again. We (me and child) made a bunch and froze them, now I just pop one in the toaster when we want one. Easy to clean, just wipe it down inside and out with a damp cloth. Way better waffles than commercially prepared frozen ones, these are thicker and taste better.
