Also there were a couple of pocket flaps made of two layers of leather sewn together,and they were coming apart where sewn together. Sad to say, because of it's ratty condition, I retired this jacket years ago and was going to throw it in the trash several times.......but I just couldn't do it. It was just so much heavier and better than the "fashion" leather jackets commonly found today. So I finally decided to try a repair! I purchased some Tandy Leather Weld from desertcart along with an assortment of random leather scraps in various colors. Luckily a couple of the leather scrap pieces were exactly the same color as my brown jacket. I opened the pocket flap seams and spread Leather Weld in the gap, then clamped the seam together with a couple of those spring clips from the stationery store, I also cut small, maybe 3/4" square, pieces of the leather scraps, stuffed a cut piece in each of the tears using the eraser end of a pencil, stuck the nozzle of the Leather Weld bottle in the hole and spread some of the glue inside, then pressed the repair together. I did the same thing where a seam where the sleeve joined the body of the jacket. Any ofthe Leather Weld that squeezed out of any of the repairs wiped off easily with a damp paper towel. So far the repairs are holding. Would this allow for the leather to stick to those surfaces?** A: I would not recommend what you suggest. This adhesive needs to be absorbed into a porous material like leather to adhere. Metals, glass and many plastics are not porous enough to get good adhesion. A urethane adhesive like gorilla glue would be a better choice. **Q: Is it flexible? I need to glue snakeskin back to fabric on the shoe in the bend area. Will it crack?** A: It should remain quite flexible in thin sections such as your snakeskin. Yes,, it’s always been a little pricey but as the old saying goes, you get what you pay for and It’s worth every penny. Ive used this cement for over 30 years and nothing even comes close to comparing to it.
