Over the years I have owned quite a few different types of knife sharpener, many of them do work well or so I thought until I got this sharpening stone! This is my first time owning this and I have to do a little research to learn how to properly sharpen my kitchen knives using this stone. Most of my kitchen knife is not exactly dull, they are still fairly sharp but using the 6000 grit helps refine the edge making your knife extremely sharp! The 1000 grit side I use it mainly for utility knife and my set of chisels. I don’t care for the wood base as many other items on Amazon have them for a higher price, you can easily add four nails to a wooden block and put this stone on top for a more sturdy surface the black base you see in the picture is made of soft rubber.

Perfect stone for beginners. You can bring a blade to shaving sharp with a little practice. The 6000 grit side is a bit soft in my opinion. I spend a lot of time cleaning the stone off due to the amount of build up. I’m admittedly fairly new to whetstones but I wasn’t expecting to dish the stone after two weeks of use. I would recommend a proper flattening stone to go along with this stone. All in all, a good value for your money. The rubber base is great and really holds the stone in place well.
