This definitely beats out Zatarain's (my favorite for years) in the flavor department.Very easy to prepare, too: boil water, dump in the package contents, turn down the heat to simmer, cover, and just leave it alone for 22-25 minutes. Instructions say to add meat while water is boiling; since I almost always use meat that I've grilled or otherwise cooked ahead of time, I usually add it at about 20 minutes (2-5 minutes before it's done) just for it to heat up.I usually make this with grilled chicken or pork, but I've also used shrimp w/ a little chopped andouille sausage for a more "authentic" flavor. I like this so much I now have it on Subscribe & Save. With the S&S discount, this works out to be extremely economical, as I can get 3 meals from one package.I've also used the Vigo Red Beans and Rice blend and found it to be equally delicious. Add a couple of spicy Johnsonville brats and a chicken breast, sprinkle on some cajun seasoning or mix in a teaspoon of a flavorful hot sauce (Zakk Wylde's Sonic Brew, maybe - I love that sauce) and you've got an incredibly easy meal.If you've grown up on authentic cajun cooking from the bayou, you might feel that this doesn't rate five stars; I won't argue.
