There is a strap but I don't use it. There is also the option to have the face plate with the built in screen protector or the face plate without. I have been using the face plate with the screen protector. But if I ever change my mind, it's nice to have the option. Not to thick and not too thin. I think it's just right for a tablet. Make sure the tablet glass is clean of any particulates because it will show under the protective cover film and no do overs, so be carefully clean. We love everything else about this case as advertised. It's been dropped a couple times already and no damage! The rubber covers over the buttons around the edges work well. Our previous tablet took damage from normal use and the cradling use eventually wrecked the A7 Tab we had as the screen started to display tearing effects. The case seems to harden the frame of the tablet to prevent this to a great degree and its more comfortable on the hands.
