A product that went through various packaging changes, they continued and discontinued the line throughout the years. It was completely discontinued this year (2015) and I finally ran out of my supply as I always bought 10 bottles at a time since it was very cheap @ $7 a 3.4 oz bottle. Not understanding why a company would discontinue making the best hair product ever known to mankind, I had to quickly find a replacement product. Characteristics that I liked about Matrix Switch Flicks was that it was not greasy, easy to apply, holds short hair throughout the entire day without having to re-apply (re-applying actually makes it worse), no overpowering fragance, only had to use very small amount to apply, and did I mention, was not greasy, most important it did not make my pillows greasy after a night's sleep. As my search started I bought everything from gel, wax, pommades, mixtures of all, so many different brands but to no avail did any compare to my $7 bottle of Switch Flicks. Mind you some of those other products costed over $20 which mostly still are barely used and sitting in my bathroom cabinet. As I continued my search to find this replacement, I stumbled on KMS Hair Play Gel Wax. I remember using KMS back in high school but I recall the product being a bit greasy so I was a bit reluctant to purchase it. I went ahead and pulled the trigger and purchased it on desertcart after some price comparisons and that fact of not having to drive all around town to find it. To my surprise, I finally found a decent replacement product for Matrix Switch Flicks. This product held up to the test and I don't really even have to use too much of it when I apply it. I find it better to apply on dry hair. One bottle has lasted me for almost 3 months now. Thanks KMS for making a great replacement quality product. Disclaimer: I'm not going to lie, if Matrix Switch Flicks came back I would purchase it only b/c it was cheaper and the gel holds a little bit better then KMS Gel Wax. It's one of the few products I've used that has a decent hold, yet doesn't give too much of a wet look. I like that natural look that looks like you don't have much/any product in your hair, but your hair keeps its shape in wind. I have medium-length curly hair. I'd recommend experimenting with how wet/dry you want your hair to be before putting this in. Personally, I prefer my hair to be pretty dry before putting this in. It gives it more volume and holds the shape better from my experience, as it doesn't get weighed down the same way it would if it were wet. Great product, highly recommend trying it. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Better than KMS Molding Paste (and a better value) *by C***F on October 31, 2013* IF: You have short hair, want a "finished look" that is not slimy or greasy, just "accurate", then this is a great product. I used to use their molding paste all the time. I found it was difficult to keep my hair looking nice all day. Great for a few hours, but lost its effect about half way through the day. With the Gel Wax, I use less product, get a better hair style, and have a long-lasting effect that gets me all the way through a business day. The 3.4oz package (smaller than the 5+oz package I used for the molding paste) lasts as long, sometimes longer. Its a better size for travel, and on Amazon, I save about 33% as compared to my SF-Based salon. TIP OF THE DAY: push the bottom of the tube UP as you use the product. You easily get another 10-15% product out of the tube.
