The unique open weave design allows the heat from the K&H heated pad to flow through to your pet. These covers feature a zipper closure for a secure fit and cover the entire heated outdoor pad. Being machine washable makes for easy care. Note: Please do not cover K&H Outdoor Heated Pads and Beds with other bedding or materials. Review: Lifesaver product. - this product kept 2 feral cats (one pregnant one) warm and alive last year. the winter in ontario is harsh and last year we had -35 below weather with tons of snow. the cats would not come in but stayed on this pad in a sheltered area of our deck. Mom gave birth to 5 healthy kittens in the spring which we adopted and although she disappeared after that, the Dad has adapted to our home and is part of our family now. He still likes to go out and sit on his pad though, when things inside are too much for him! This product is low energy, and outdoor animals will thank you for it. I would recommend it to anyone looking to help outdoor animals in the winter. (Tip - we hooked it up to a sensored switch so we could turn it off and on from the house without disturbing the cats. Not really necessary, because the product reacts to the animal and stays cooler when not in use.)
Review: Plush pile and convenient pillowcase style with zipper - This washable removable pad makes my job so much easier in trying to keep a clean warm bed for a stray cat who likes to sleep on our covered porch. I bought 3 of them so the cat could be using one while his dirty one is in the wash. (They wash up perfectly in my washing machine with hot water with no shrinkage or stretching.) The third one is a "just-in-case" cover. The covers are a nice plush pile so the heat from the heating plate doesn't feel too hot. They fit the K&H heating plate perfectly and don't slide around because the plate is inserted into the cover like a pillowcase and then zips. I've tried other kinds of covers that have elastic at each corner to hold onto the heating plate but they slide around when the cat moves on them. I highly recommend this Kitty Pad rather than those every time.

**Q: how long is the cord as i have to have a long one to reach the kitty dome as i am plugging outside**
A: The cord for my kitty dome is 5 feet.

**Q: None of the product description sizes line up ... can you just tell me which pad fits the k&h pet products mod thermo-kitty heated shelter?**
A: The shelter comes with a pad.  I believe its the same size as the heating pad which is12.5x18.5x0.25.  mine is outside so I usually hose it down in the spring with some laundry soap and let it air dry outside.  I'm not real satisfied with the shelter because if the animal get the cover wet it takes a while for it to dry.  While its wet the animal is not kept warm.  Also, the heating pad does not get warm enough in the really cold weather.  I found making my own shelter out of a large Styrofoam container, lining it with foil insulation and foil taping the edges and adding straw to that is the best shelter for an outside animal.  The straw does not absorb moisture which helps keep the animal warm.

**Q: Can I put the Deluxe Fleece cover OVER the simulated sheepskin cover that came with the pad?  It seems it would make the bed even softer....or is there a chance of overheating by doing this.  Please advise.  Thanks!  Val**
A: The cover is pretty tight over the pad, I don't think it will fit over the other cover as well. Hope that helps.

This is my second one. I absolutely love this product as do my cats. I have used these for my feral cats so I needed something that was easy to clean and that I could trust to be durable. The cord is well connected and protected. The pad itself gives off a gentle warmth without getting hot. The pad itself is hard plastic (I got the deluxe cover to put over it) but honestly, the cats do not seem to mind one bit. It’s the only heating pad I trust to gently give off warmth without causing a fire hazard. With the thick plastic housing, I don’t worry about claws or teeth puncturing it.
