Due to the mug and handle being made of steel, yes, it does transfer heat. The edges are rolled which helps dissipate some of the heat. Sorry we don't have temperature results...but basically with steaming hot water the handle was warm to hot, but not too hot to hold. The sides of the mug were too hot to hold, but the handle was OK.
