I am using it with a really heavy two 970 battery powered LED light on an extension and it is holding firm. I added a second light of the same size and the camera was too heavy for my application but this bracket held up to that abuse. I did have to bend the angle a bit with a crescent wrench so the top was level. The top plate was about 5 degrees off making the light lean a bit. After the small adjustment I am very happy with it. Each of the dove tail cold shoe adapters are standard quarter inch mount screws so I attached my light that way with an adapter Spigot Stud and a Umbrella Softbox Flash Bracket Adapter that has a 180 degree adjustment hinge so I can angle the light. So much better than the others I have tried.
