On the other hand, if you need an HD projector with a bright, clear and high contrast image but don't have $700 to spend, this generic brand (HTP) HD LED projector may be just the ticket.= PROS =Price: A full-size LED projector for less than $250. Similar priced units don't match this one's brightness.Bulb life: The LED bulb has an estimated life-span of approximately 20,000 hours - more than 15 years based on an average usage of 25 hours per week.Brightness/Contrast: I give presentations in various venues and need a bright image with high contrast. The HTP, with 2000 lumens and a 1000:1 contrast ratio is easy to view even with room lights on. For my initial test I viewed a BD copy of 2001: A Space Odyssey projected on an 80" reflective screen in a slightly darkened room. Both light and dark details were clear.Built-in speakers: The built-in stereo speakers aren't bad. Even though there's no chest-pounding bass (for the the BOOM-boom-BOOM-boom-BOOM in 2001: A Space Odyssey), the overall sound quality is better than I expected. I've read reviews for other projectors that mention excessive fan noise so I periodically muted the sound to listen for noticeable noise and detected nothing objectionable (to my ear, anyway).Keystone adjustment: The HTP includes a manual, 15 degree, keystone adjustment that corrects an image which is wider at the top than the bottom due to the projector being placed lower than the screen.= CONS =Cheap construction: The HTP projector screams, "CHEAP!". The overall dimensions are 13"W x 10"D x 4"H - clunky compared to $700 units. The case styling is uninspiringly generic. Although the manual-focus lens operates ok, it doesn't feel firmly engaged in the threads. The height adjustment foot at the front also feels loose and flimsy. I fully expect within a month to be using paperclip boxes propped under the front of the HTP to adjust its height. I invested in a good quality case for transporting my projector because I doubt it can take much of a hit.Instruction book: The instructions are essentially useless. The sentences structures, terminology and syntax are difficult to decipher. I was going to toss the instructions away until it dawned on me that, folded it in fourths, they will make the perfect replacement height adjuster.SUMMARYI rated this projector 4 stars because it offers picture quality and brightness on par with projectors costing three times as much. If I only had more confidence in the workmanship of the HTP projector I would have given it all 5 stars however, it is made rather . . . . . . cheaply.=== UPDATE === 6/8/2016Like everything electronic, prices drop as technology (and competition) advance. You can now buy this projector for well under $200 however, I'm changing my review from 4 to 2 stars - downgrading a generally positive review to a more negative one - and here's why:After just under three years of minimal use (five programs averaging about 1-1/2 hours each - 8 hours max. total use) the cooling fan has quit. I fired it up at a program a couple of weeks ago, all seemed well, and then a small black blob appeared in the image. The blob quickly grew until the projector shut down. It worked flawlessly a few months earlier. After letting it cool down (I guessed it had tripped the internal thermal breaker), I turned it back on and noticed the cooling fan was not functioning. Let me mention a few points here: * I purchased this projector new in August of 2013 and have used it a total of less than 10 hours. * I've stored and transported it in a hard-shell, foam padded (Pelican type) case. * I always allow for plenty of cool-down time before packing or storing it. * It's always been used and stored in smoke-free environments. * It has never been dropped or even bumped. I take very good care of my electronic investments.Since the projector is well outside the one-year warranty, I tried contacting HTP about fixing the issue and discovered their customer service is essentially non-existent. The cooling fan is a squirrel-cage type that is not easy to find a replacement for so, my remedy has been to place a small USB-powered fan outside of the air intake area of the projector to circulate air through its interior. It works but it's not what I signed on for. I've just purchased an Epson projector to replace my HTP.The bottom line here is that you pay more for brand-name electronics because they're made better in order to protect their brand. Duh. While all of the points I made in my original review three years ago still hold true, I truly apologize to anyone who purchased this projector and had problems, based on my recommendation. I no longer recommend this projector unless HTP has substantially improved its quality.FOR SALE - Slightly used, slightly dysfunctional HTP projector - CHEAP!! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ For the price, you cannot complain. *by S***K on Reviewed in the United States on December 8, 2014* It's not the greatest, but it works.Pros : This projector say's 1080P but that is NOT the resolution it displays, that is merely the resolution it can take as an input. The resolution is not bad at all. If you are close to it, then you will see individual pixels and it will look bad. But if you have it set up properly, then watching movies on netflix or blueray do not look bad at all. In fact, they look kind of good. I have worked with many 700 - 1000$ projectors, they all get blurry if not set up properly and not viewed from the proper distance. Many, Many different input possibilities on the back of this thing, mounting holes on the bottom allowed me to mount mine upside down on a custom shelf. Many output possibilities especially for sound.Cons : The sound tat his projector emits on its own is very bad. The speakers are sub par. But not only that, the amount of noise the projector actually creates from the fans and cooling is very loud. ### ⭐⭐ Inexpensive, but it shows. *by S***L on Reviewed in the United States on February 3, 2014* I bought this projector knowing that it would be pretty cheap. My plan was to use it to show films overseas connected to a portable power source. The pros from the description for me were 1) Low power consumption (140W stamped on the projector) and 2) the longevity of an LED light at an inexpensive price.Receiving it, we knew it would be cheap but this really is pretty bad. The seller appears to know this as they send out an email requesting no negative feedback until talking with them first.The center of the projector can be adjusted into focus, but we never could get the outside edges to focus.I just don't see anyone being really happy with this projector.
