Wi-Fi capacity requirements in office buildings, classrooms, and retail venues are rapidly rising due to the increase in Wi-Fi connected devices, non-Wi-Fi IoT devices and bandwidth-hungry applications. The RUCKUS R650 access point (AP) with the latest Wi-Fi 6 (802.11 ax) technology delivers increased capacity, improved coverage and performance in dense environments. The R650 is our mid-range dual-band, dual-concurrent AP that supports six spatial streams (4x4:4 in 5GHz, 2x2:2 in 2.4GHz). The R650 supports peak data rates of up to 2974 Mbps and efficiently manages up to 512 clients connections. Furthermore, 2.5GbE Ethernet ensures the backhaul will not be a bottleneck for full use of available Wi-Fi capacity.

Review: Huge upgrade over UniFi - I absolutely love the Ruckus R650. It’s been a massive upgrade from the UniFi APs I was running before. The performance difference was obvious right away — stronger signal, better coverage, and way more consistent connections, especially in spots where UniFi struggled. Ruckus Unleashed is also really nice. Setup was straightforward, no controller or extra hardware to mess with, and once it’s up, it just works. Management is simple, stable, and feels very polished. Overall, Wi‑Fi feels rock solid now. Devices stay connected, speeds are consistent, and I don’t deal with random drops anymore. If you’re coming from UniFi and want something more reliable and powerful, the R650 with Unleashed is a huge step up. Zero regrets.

ANWER: Since I have three of this model AP already on my network, yet they are 1.5 years old, the firmware on the new one is different. Using the "Unleashed" dashboard to add a new device is easy if the firmware is the same, but if the newer version manufactured has an updated (or different firmware) then the one listed as "Master" on your network, it will not update. There is a process to do this by connecting it to your laptop, however, you also have to connect it up to a power source. Guess what? This product does not come with a power supply, and the Ruckus Tech support told me to go to an authorized reseller. They wouldn't even tell me the part number of the power supply.

**Q: Are these sold by an authorized dealer and registered with Ruckus by a dealer for the lifetime warranty?**
A: No

**Q: Is this R650 unleashed? If not, can it be unleashed and what does it take to to do so?**
A: This is the exact same hardware as the Unleashed model - but with different firmware. You can download the Unleashed firmware from Ruckus' support site for free. You can switch between firmware as often as you'd like. We can help with this process if needed.

**Q: Will you be willing to upgrade the firmware, to enable the Unleashed mode pior to shipping?**
A: Yes, we can. Just be sure to message us right away so we can make the change.

**Q: What are the steps to removing my R510s and installing these R650?**
A: It depends on how you are using them? If you have a ZoneDirector and you only have enough licenses for the AP's in use - you will have to remove an old AP from the ZD first and then you can add the new one. If you have available licenses - you simply need to plug it in. The ZD will find the AP and provision it. Keep in mind, you have to ensure the ZD has a new enough firmware version that will recognize the new model AP.

I absolutely love the Ruckus R650. It’s been a massive upgrade from the UniFi APs I was running before. The performance difference was obvious right away — stronger signal, better coverage, and way more consistent connections, especially in spots where UniFi struggled. Ruckus Unleashed is also really nice. Setup was straightforward, no controller or extra hardware to mess with, and once it’s up, it just works. Management is simple, stable, and feels very polished. Overall, Wi‑Fi feels rock solid now. Devices stay connected, speeds are consistent, and I don’t deal with random drops anymore. If you’re coming from UniFi and want something more reliable and powerful, the R650 with Unleashed is a huge step up. Zero regrets.

If you don't buy this product from an authorized reseller, Ruckus will not help you. Why do you need help? So.... I didn't know anything about Ruckus. I just knew what I had wasn't good and what I replaced it with was worse. General chats on the interwebs tells me the Ruckus R650 unleashed is great so I got one. Turns out, this one doesn't have the Unleashed firmware pre installed. I'm sure people in the know uh.. know that but I didn't. Not a big deal though, if you are geek enough to understand why you want an AP over the junk a service provider gives you than you can do this. You can download the firmware from Ruckus and reflash it pretty easily but if you get a 9U1-xxxx rather than a 901-xxx you don't have to mess with that. So yeah, it's great! Best I've had so far But if you need Unleashed, it will be a bit easier if you get the correct one.
