You can feel the difference with a new filter. We use the fan every single night. It helps with my allergies. I would rate the fan as excellent. **Q: How do you really know that the filter needs replacing? I've used the same one since May, almost daily but intermittently.** A: I took the filter out after two months and it was pretty dusty. As to whether it really needs changing for a new one after that time I would say it depends why you are using the filter. If it is for serious allergies then probably replace but as the filters are quite pricey, I have hoovered off the dust with a powerful vacuum cleaner head. I am using it to cool the air quietly at night in my bedroom, the air seems clearer definitely. I will replace it after another few months probably.
