Has one in my jeep for 10 years now and its still going. Review: Great Product - They actually give you everything you need. You might end up needing a few more brass fittings, I did but I went a different route. Rather than using this on a truck I installed this in my Jeep for airing up tires after the trail. Build quality of everything is great all around- I couldn't find anywhere that they skimped out. Get a good idea of where everything will go and make sure it will fit. Be sure that the air line won't get kinked because that's how you spring a leak. It might not be a bad idea to buy some extra hose, but they give you plenty. I used more than I needed and only went over by a few feet. They give you 6' of 3/8" hose for remote mounting the filter, but I mounted it next to my engine intake. I uses 1/4" tubing for this because the 6' of 3/8" wasn't long enough, so I think this is why it takes a bit longer to fill. The gage they give you is great, and they give it to you in a little sheet metal cutout with a switch. I mounted mine where it wouldn't be in the way- I'm sure if you're putting this in a truck you'll be able to keep the gage in the sheet metal mount they give you. They also give you an extra bulb. And 3 air filters. Wiring is also very easy, as long as the pressure switch gets its 12V power it'll turn itself on and off according to whatever pressure its' at. My only complaint is that they don't give you any way to mount the pressure switch. I used a giant cable tie, but I'll come up with something eventually. VIAIR's build quality on the 450C is what you'd expect β€” this is a serious compressor, not a cheapo unit that'll cook itself after a few duty cycles. The 2.5 gallon tank is the right call over the smaller options; gives you enough reserve to actually run accessories without the compressor cycling constantly. One thing worth calling out for anyone doing a weatherproof install in an exposed location β€” you'll want to use the sealed 145 PSI pressure cutoff switch rather than the standard one. Took a few extra minutes to sort that out during the install but it's the right move if your compressor is seeing any weather. Keeps moisture out of the pressure switch and protects the longevity of the system. Overall the install was straightforward. VIAIR includes decent documentation and the wiring is clean if you take your time running it properly. Fused direct to battery, grounded solid, no issues. Performance is exactly what I needed. Airing back up after off-road runs is quick β€” the 450C moves serious volume and the tank means you're not waiting on pressure to build before you start. Also running an air horn and rear air bags off the same system without any complaints. The compressor keeps up, duty cycle hasn't been an issue in real world use.
