My cousin told me he had to replace his water heater because the tank rusted out. I replace the anode rods in my house water heated but didn't even think about this with the RV. Turns out my RV only had a plastic drain plug and no anode. This anode was a direct replacement, and so inexpensive. Took about 10 minutes to install it. RV heaters are about $600 for the heater and labor. $15 is cheap insurance. Be sure to clean the tank while you have the water drained. I just went to the hardware store and purchased 3 feet of 5/8 clear flexible tubing and a plastic plug for the end of my shop vac. I drilled a hole in the plug for the tubing, and stuffed it in the drain hole of the water heater. Worked like a champ!
