The round ones send lots of "dots" on the walls and the floors causing a disco ball like effect. these ones have little plantation shutters on the front which allows you to make them brighter or dimmer by adjusting. they cast the light onto the floor and the light is much softer than the round ones. Ideal for a kids bedroom, bathroom or hallway as a nightlight. much better than the other kinds. And you can set it and forget it so you don't have to wonder if you turned it off or not. happy with them.
