The Carmyra Shingle Froe Tool and Kindling Axe combines a 15-inch premium forged alloy steel blade with an 18-inch solid hardwood tapered handle, delivering precise, fatigue-free wood splitting. ## Description

Make precise wood splits with the Redneck Convent Log Peeler Debarking Tool. It allows you to be much more accurate when splitting lumber, shakes, shingles, and turning blanks. You can use it for woodworking projects that require riveting such as chair spindles and spoons, split bow staves, or make tinder and kindling for a wood stove. The hardened steel blade can be hammered on top with a wooden mallet to drive the blade through your piece of wood. The handle is graduated in size meaning that it tapers (one end of the handle is larger than the eye of the froe) so the blade jam fits in place and prevents the froe blade from falling off of the handle. Wooden mallet recommended, not included.

Review: First time with a froe, and this works well - I don't write that many reviews so this is an exception. I like this solution better than the $70 splitters where you set the wood in a cast iron cage. They seem nice but I am just trying to split firewood into kindling from time to time (hardwoods). A froe offers control and precision, and is a lot less expensive. I found using a deadblow rubber mallet to work better than a wooden mallet. I can go old school and use an ax but this is much easier.

I don't write that many reviews so this is an exception. I like this solution better than the $70 splitters where you set the wood in a cast iron cage. They seem nice but I am just trying to split firewood into kindling from time to time (hardwoods). A froe offers control and precision, and is a lot less expensive. I found using a deadblow rubber mallet to work better than a wooden mallet. I can go old school and use an ax but this is much easier.

I’m only giving it 4 stars instead of five because the screw needed to hold the handle in place doesn’t come with it, you must supply your own and you will need it.
