Review: Vibrant and impressive colors for the price! - I absolutely love these paints. I'm a beginner to watercolor painting and have tried a few other brands. None of them have impressed me more than these have. The colors are creamy, vibrant, and highly pigmented. I love how you have the option of removing either a small group of paints or removing the paints individually from the palette. They're definitely portable for traveling. It comes with a paint mixing palette that is removable from the lid. Two water brushes that I haven't tried out yet and a small sponge. It comes with a small pad of water color paper. I'm very impressed with the paper too. The paper is heavy textured which, allows the paint to go onto the paper flawlessly without spilling everywhere. The paper holds quite a bit of water too. So far, it hasn't warped or wrinkled. I definitely recommend these. For the price you get 48 vibrant colors, 2 watercolor brushes, a small pad of watercolor paper, 1 sponge, 1 mixing palette, and the container that holds everything inside minus the of paper.
Review: From an intermediate artist, I really enjoy this set! - While I am no pro - I am certainly beyond the stages of being a beginner and let me tell you, I am IMPRESSED by this set! The colors are not at all chalky like in many other value sets - just the opposite. These pans are smooth and creamy. I would easily compare these to my Winsor and Newton Cotman travel set, but the GenCrafts are a mere fraction of the price. The one area I cannot speak to is lightfastness - so if that is a concern for you, then best to invest n colors from a long standing company with established lightfast ratings. I use this set for play, art journaling, crafting, and card making - so it is a perfect blend of quality and affordability. I have been able to lift these paints from the page without issue, and I also find that they perform great with other common watercolor techniques such as wet on wet and dry brush. I will note that I also bought the 48 pan set and found that while equally as great - it was too many colors for me. I really enjoy mixing colors, and working with smaller, more limited palette so this set is a great fit for me. If you love to have a ton of color options and/or color mixing isn't your love - then definitely check out the 48 pan set. Either way, you can't go wrong!

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Where can we find lightfast ratings?**
A: If you look on the photo that has the colors swatched, there are stars next to the colors that show the lightfast rating :) I’m sure you already bought these or something else but for anyone else with this question

**Q: How much is shipping to mauritius?**
A: My shipping

**Q: Are the watercolor paints artist grade?**
A: Absolutely NOT! Do not recommend, I hope to return the pallet I got, at the time i mainly chose to buy b/c it came with a large set of tube paints that are awful, awful, awful - for real they shouldn’t even give them away for free!! MAJOR buyers remorse, I was thrilled to see I can return through the end of this month 🤞🏻
For the price you can get exponentially better pallets. Mozart’s ‘Komorebi’ $20 for 40 colors or Paul Rubens student line ‘MeiLiang’ under $25 for 48
Both of these sets I’ve seen featured on numerous professional artists sites, including impressive painting demonstrations using only these pallets, certainly never seen this pallet used by any professional artist sharing tutorials but for at one time Kristy Rice of ‘Paintcrush’ saying she USE to recommend as a beginner set but now is more in favor of the other pallets I mentioned.
OR if you want artist grade paint I highly recommend the not so commonly known brand Rosa, specifically ‘Rosa Gallery’ (the artist grade option) a Ukrainian company. Truly comparable to Daniel Smith, M.Graham, W&N etc - my first Rosa pallet of 12 colors was roughly $15 and provided all the single pigment colors necessary to mix almost anything. I plan to write a comprehensive review with color swatches because I’m just so impressed. This GenCrafts set should cost less than $20 MAX - it dries weird, is super hard to rewet & the pans are super small

**Q: Are these watercolors transparent or opaque?**
A: These paints are very versatile and can produce both results.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good watercolor paints
*by S***3 on May 23, 2020*

Some of the best watercolor pans I've ever used (not a professional but a long-time painter). Mine came with two water brushes which are good because they come with caps and don't leak, but the water comes out of the wring place in one of them when squeezed (might get worse over time? but for now it still wets the bristles so it is okay). Synthetic bristles, stain easily (doesnt come out with soap) but don't shed and keep their shape. The paper pad that comes with it is pretty good value, seems to be cold pressed but it's only about 80 lb (220g/m^2 as labeled) so it does buckle pretty heavily. The colors don't leak to other pages or the other side though so its good enough for sketches or tests, it would probably be fine if taped down and not layered too much. The paints themselves arrived color sorted and none broken. Comes with mixing tray and a small sponge. Not oddly grainy. Some of the colors are difficult to tell what they are on paper so i recommend swatching before using. They spread well but not out of control when used wet on wet. Vibrant, saturated colors, not streaky, not blotchy, or too opaque. Pallette includes: Lots of blues, purples, greens, and yellows. a few pinks, some browns, a black, two grays, and a white. The pans are easily removable too but dont seem to pop out or get damaged with normal use/transport so its a great set to mix and match and rearrange if you like as well. The colors blend really well together, They don't just swirl together they truly mix, however, using the brushes and paper in the kit at least, blending on the paper needed so much water that it started picking up the paper a bit, so be careful. All in all I am super happy with this kit and I would likely buy it again. The paint is good for finished pieces (haven't tested lightfastness but other than that) but not the paper or brushes. Best I've seen for its price.
