Long ago, I decided that I would not be held hostage by furniture that I cannot move.I just inherited this solid, custom-built gem of a chest (created around 1990). It is made of 1" plywood (yes, that is correct) with laminate. It is a well-made BEAST and I cannot part with it. I also cannot move it due to the weight.The solution? I just added these beautiful, 2" clear, heavy-duty casters that can handle 500# total weight! I simply created a cardboard template so that I could position the base so that the wheels barely cleared the sides of the chest. Installation was a breeze.It was a bear to get the chest standing upright again, but determination pays off. I love how the bottom of the furniture barely clears the carpet so that you cannot see the wheels. And it rolls like a breeze on 1/2 inch carpet!
