I enjoyed the Battle Royale novel immensely and found the essays interesting for the most part. Particularly the essays about gender roles and feminism! I did find the ones discussing the movie adaptation a bit confusing. Maybe I will finally watch the film.

Seriously, if you like Battle Royale (the novel or the manga...or BOTH) then buy this. It's a great addition to the collection and is actually quite an interesting read. Its basically a bunch of "professional" essays about different themes in BR. What got me hooked was just reading the Introduction of the book.Sure some essays in the book are better than others, but what the heck, just add this to your BR collection :)

Great book. It was nice too see what other authors thought of the masterpiece that is Battle Royale. It's a nice addition to my book collection and it looks nice next to the Remastered version of Battle Royale and the manga volumes up in my shelf :)
