I used the smallest bit first to drill the (12) pilot holes. I drilled at a very low speed, dipping the tip of the drill bit in a glass of water every 30 seconds to cool it off. It was a slow process. I was concerned that the bit would wear out and tried a couple of times to switch to a carbide masonry bit to finish the holes, but those just wouldn't penetrate the tile. My concern was unfounded. The smallest bit from this set made it through all 12 holes, slow and steady. Then I enlarged the holes with each next size up until they were big enough. That went much more quickly. It seems that the initial holes are very tough, but enlarging holes is easier. Even my carbide masonry bits worked for that. These bits are a great value, and work wonderfully if you take your time and make sure they don't overheat (by dipping in water).
