## Questions & Answers

**Q: Will this work cutting a taper on a 36” piece off wood?**
A: The length of the cut doesn't matter much as long as your saw can handle it. However, longer pieces are troublesome if the infeed side of your table isn't long enough to accommodate the jig. You might need to set up an auxiliary infeed table, and then at that point it might be hard to line up the fence.

**Q: Can this aluminum arm be drill and add the hold down clamps ?**
A: Aluminum can be drilled but it is not a real heavy gauge. I think a hold down clamp can be used if not too tight so that the aluminum doesn’t bend.

**Q: What length can I crosscut?**
A: That really depend on the length of your table saw. If needed, build an extension to your table to support the length needed. Lumber support rollers would also do it.

**Q: What is dimension of slot inserts**
A: I’m not sure what slots you are looking at. The holes for the part that is bolted on are small like less than 3/16”. The largest hole us for the handle used to push the device. Just drill what you need.

Simple design, but surprisingly effective. I purchased to make some simple angled cuts and it worked perfectly. The only alternative I could see to this would be either an expensive one by one of the higher end brands or making one myself. And I don't know that anything I made in the shop would have been much better. My only complaint is the hardware can slip if you don't get it tight. I might try to either replace a screw or two. Or maybe figure up a block I can clamp in. Still, it is a good solution at an inexpensive price.

It works fine if you taper one or two sides of a leg. You run into difficulties if you want to taper all four sides. I don't know if it is just me or my ignorance is boundless.

My rating is so high, not because this sled's complexity, but because of it's simplicity and the function it performs.As long as the material you're shaping doesn't exceed the length of the sled, this is the only type of device that will do the job.Very easy to adjust, although it takes 3 additional minutes to switch between left and right hand cuts. Easy to understand directions and uncomplicated design using materials that will stand prolonged home shop use.
