Review: An excellent (stereo) amplifier for home audio purposes - Why did you choose this product over others?: I needed an amplifier with a digital input, approx. 20 to 40W per channel, and there are surprisingly few. It has turned out to be an excellent choice. It is powerful, and gives a crystal clear sound stage, comparable, I am sure, with many much more expensive amplifiers, and seems very well built. Further, for those with a lot of equipment, it is fitted with range of other (analogue) inputs, including an RIAA input for a record player. Sound quality: Excellent. Crystal clear and it drives my loudspeakers with ease. Value for money: Comparable with much more expensive amplifiers, so even though it's not cheap, it does give very good value

Strangely, everything else inside was completely sealed and pristine... It was a bit weird, but since the amp works flawlessly and sounds so fantastic, I’m more than happy to keep it. Highly recommended for the audio quality alone; just keep an eye on the box condition when it arrives!

**Q: If I want to connect a subwoofer, do I need a passive one or an active one?**
A: Active. 

Btw, think very seriously about getting this amp and ignore the 5 star What HiFi reviews etc. It's harsh at even 10 o'clock volume setting. It can make even Steely Dan's Gaucho album sound over-bright and shouty. Beware.

**Q: Can you, by pressing 'program' and 'clear', switch to 'program delete' to simply skip particular tracks?**
A: Remote you can go forward or back

**Q: Can the cd6007 play back from iPhone/iPads like the cd6005? How?**
A: No, I’m afraid it doesn’t. The previous model did.

**Q: What size is the actual cd deck rather than the packaging?**
A: 44 x 33 x 11cm (including the feet)

I am absolutely thrilled with the performance of this Marantz amp. It sounds incredibly smooth, has plenty of clean power, and looks absolutely brilliant on the hi-fi rack. Marantz really knows how to build a premium audio component. My only slight concern was with the packaging when it arrived. The main outer box had clearly been opened at some point, and there was a tiny, barely noticeable nick on the front fascia. Strangely, everything else inside was completely sealed and pristine... It was a bit weird, but since the amp works flawlessly and sounds so fantastic, I’m more than happy to keep it. Highly recommended for the audio quality alone; just keep an eye on the box condition when it arrives!

I had to replace a geriatric CD player that had finally ceased to function. After doing a little research I found that the Marantz fitted the bill very nicely. The sound is very clean and warm, with no trace of the clinical quality I have often found in digital sound. The functions are straightforward and no-nonsense, and the machine was very easily set up with the rest of my system. The player is often recommended as the best of the modestly priced machines, and I would concur with that.
