It has a pungent smell that keeps the pet from licking it. My cat isn't a big fan of the smell, but it works either way. It is non irritant, which is very important. Seems to have no buring of any kind. On effectiveness, the wound became much more manageable after using 3 days consecutively. Spray has no gas, so cats won't get spooked while using. Clean the wound and spray directly (avoid its eyes and other sensitive parts). If possible, cover the wound without too tightly wrapping it, change daily. I was using it 2 times daily, for 3-4 days. Caused no hair fall, clamping or any other side effect. Large bottle, so it is cost effective too. All went well for me with this, hope it would be beneficial for other pet owners too !
