It's all about the loop. Okay, not ALL about the loop ... but the loop is what sets these bags apart and makes this particular "cold brew coffee sock" the one to buy.I have been making cold brew coffee for years. I started with a mason jar of water and coffee, which I then filtered through cheese cloth. Messy and inconvenient. I later switched to the Toddy cold brew system, which is much neater but is bulky and (to be honest) uses a sponge filter that kind of grosses me out with the perceived icky factor even though I boiled it after every use and then air dried it. These bags bring me back to my cold brew mason jar roots, but without the mess and inconvenience.Why are these bags so great? 1) They filter out almost 100% of the silt. I have used other metal filters that still leave silty dregs in the bottom of your container. 2) They are super convenient. Just fill with coffee, run water through the bag, loop the loop, and lid the container. 3) The loop -- My neighbor has a bag with a drawstring. The drawstring is a pain in the patootie. That's why I held off so long on buying my own bag. Then I found these. Love the loop. 4) The entire system is easy and portable. This is great for traveling AND takes up much less room than my Toddy. I've totally switched to the bags even when I am at home. 5) The bags are super easy to clean. I just dump the coffee, rinse the bag, and hang to dry. Every time I do a load of laundry, I run the bag through the washer and dryer. I probably don't even need to do that, but it just seems like the sanitary thing to do, right?We just got back from a week long beach vacation with extended family. I packed my two coffee filter bags, two wide mouth mason jars (for brewing), and two regular mason jars for storing. The bags and the cold brew were a hit. I made a fresh batch of cold brew every day and we went through the coffee as soon as I could make it. My in-laws are big fans of cold brew (from coffee shops) and had no idea that it was so easy to make. In a severe lapse of judgment on my part, I gave away my supplies and came home empty handed. "No, don't worry about it," I said. "I can just order another set on Amazon." Wrong! They are sold out. I guess I must wait patiently for them to be back in stock. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ VERY difficult to remove from a 64oz wide moouth ball jar. It would be 5 stars if they had a bag shape that was more long/narrow to use with wide mouth jars, which many people do use. Otherwise great product!The company seems like they really care and want to do best, from the follow-up emails I've gotten. However, in making cold brew coffee with this is a wide-mouth ball jar, the design it is too wide. I couldn't get the grounds out of the jar without having to put my hands in the coffee, push the bag contents around and squish it and then I had to get it out side-ways eventually. The shape is more wide that is workable for this. VERY messy! And I had to play with the grounds in the bag to be alble to get it out. I only put in 1 cup of grounds (which is really not enough for 64 oz) to test it. Didn't work well and I don't see how you would get the grounds out for a larger amount.Flavor was OK. No taste of the bag. But I made a small batch. To make what is required for a 64oz ball jar, you could never get the grounds out of it. With 1 cup of grounds, I barely got it out of the jar and 64oz usually requires 2 cups.The cleaning is not bad, but you do have to wash it out. I'm not sure if you need to boil this or what to fully clean. It didn't come with instruction that told you anything. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Easy, to Use, Easy to Clean, Great Coffee *by A***T on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on January 3, 2021* Before this, I was making cold brew with stapled coffee filters. I can easily say that I’ve been converted. It’s as simple as fill, wrap, and brew. It doesn’t leave and grounds, although I will say they do let a small amount of the finest sediment through, but overnight, it will settle on the bottom. However, it won’t reappear unless you shake it up. Clean-up is also super easy, just turn the bag inside-out, dump, and rinse.Obviously, the coffee will stain the bag, but otherwise, the integrity of the bag holds up for multiple uses. Throwing it in the wash immediately after use will remove the stains but if you let it dry, the stains will stay. Due to the elastic, I wouldn’t put in the dryer on any level of heat; I air dry for a few hours and that’s more than sufficient. If the elastic does decide to fail, then I’ll probably just use a hair-tie but for now, it’s a solid purchase.I’m always modifying ratios, but currently, I’m using 1.5 cups of coarse grounds (to minimize fines) light to medium roast with 1 2-qt pitcher, left on the counter overnight.
