A great version of the K40
The media could not be loaded. There are a lot of reports about the K40 being bad and needing upgrades. I even held off for two years buying one to see how they would evolve. The Orion Motor Tech version is not the cheapest but I am so glad I spent the extra £30 or £40 more.It came really well packaged and within 3 days of ordering it.It came with a bag of goodies including a very long USB to printer cable that works fine(no dropouts).Firstly the panel now comes with temperature gauges so you keep an eye on the water and laser temp. The extractor fan seems better and built in and the tube was much better than the blue plastic one normally shipped. The water tubing seemed better than the original. The lasers had been aligned and hot glue had been added to help keep alignment. And it comes with the red dot laser. It comes with a 3pin plug in the UK and I checked it was earthed correctly by checking resistance between the plug earth and the K40 and it was fine.I did in the end have to do a little adjusting to the mirrors but it isn't that difficult and worth learning to do to get the most out of your laser.Don't forget this came by courier and by the time I got it to it's resting place it had a lot of movement so even though they had hot glued them in place you had to expect some movement.Mine also came with a metal grate on top of the bed gripper system so you can use either. It worked from the moment I turned it on and it was only later I did a little adjusting and it now even better.I have full use of an 80 watt laser at our local Makerspace but because of Covid, it is shut. This gives me what I need for most projects. There are plenty of videos on upgrades needed to K40's...But at least with the Orion Motor Version, you are starting with a very good starter package and will feel any upgrades will only enhance the machine.I will add air assist although a lot of people just use masking tape nowadays. The water pump that comes with it seems fine and quiet but watch out when it gets warmer and keep an eye on your water temperature.Overall I am really pleased with this laser and as I already said I am pleased I spent the extra. It made the experience so much better.Oh yeah like everyone else I use K40 whisperer software to control it.

Arrived not working and took 10 days to get a refund
While it was exciting to get a laser cutter at such a price – the laser failed to work because it had been damaged probably by the cheap DPD delivery and did not work, despite being well packaged, it was delivered end up and was dragged around! Given the market for these is monopolized there is no choice, beware. I avoid A. where I can - their tax avoidance distorts the markets. There is no responsibility for the seller / recycling. The seller stalled and stalled regarding sending out a replacement offering money to replace the K40mini laser which is just not available in the UK that I found. After 10 frustrating days they agreed a full refund and did not want the old one returned - leaving me with a large box and product taking up space - and losing valuable time I had set aside to get to grips with the laser cutter. My initial enthusiasm waned. I went to another supplier to get the replacement - same product different seller - fortunately this one worked -0 good quality, value for money but is not fully accurate, smokey (do your research, add air assist, extraction...)

I received a K40 Mini not a true K40
Arrived quickly and worked out of the box. This is the first laser I've owned and I slowly became aware that my machine was smaller than a true K40. My machine is only 720mm wide and the tube is approximately 620mm, however a 40W laser tube is 700mm long and wouldn't fit inside my case.I reached out to Orion Motor Tech through Amazon and they were very responsive and quickly offered compensation. But be aware that this isn't a true K40, although having said that it is still a good machine.

Easy to setup, works just as it should
I was a little apprehensive about buying this but I'm thankfully happy. It was really well packaged and arrived in perfect condition, I had a few questions and the guys who sold it were quick to answer and help. It worked well first time and I soon got the hang of the software. It's very accurate and I'm so far happy, it engraves and cuts through 3mm acrylic easily and matt black painted steel it engraves. So it's a thumbs up from me

works straight out of the box
Really easy to use, i downloaded K40 whisper with it so never used the software i got so cant comment. For simple hobby making it is great, ive added an air hose to make it even better but it does need one. Would highly recommend for someone starting out laser cutting.

Worked but only in the beginning
It was great in the beginning. Now it is problem to cut in 2mm plywood. Everything is cleaned..waste of time, materials and money.
