The case is pretty thin. I don't know how well it will really protect it if it does actually fall. But it is hard plastic and goes around the front also, so it seems to help somewhat. The buttons are covered but easy to press. There is a built in stand but it seems like it will break off easily.? It also only leans one way and may seem to sit to high if laying in bed. I wasn't sure at first how to open it to put the iPad in. It doesn't have any instructions or picture to show which would be helpful I think. I did answer someone's question on that though if you need help.
