## Description

Friends With Kids is a daring and poignant ensemble comedy about a close-knit circle of friends at that moment in life when children arrive and everything changes. The last two singles in the group observe the effect that kids have had on their friends' relationships and wonder if there's a better way. They decide to have a kid together - and date other people. There are big laughs and unexpected emotional truths as this unconventional 'experiment' leads everyone in the group to question the nature of friendship, family and, finally, true love.

    This Movie Hates Women

*by W***D on Reviewed in the United States on April 5, 2020*

Every. Single. Character. in this movie loathes women, even themselves and the men who are supposed to be good guys.It is full of nagging, weepy female stereotypes while the "nice guys" treat their significant others like garbage, and say things like "wow, do you always talk this much?" on a first date. And even without all that, it's predictable, unrewarding, and toxic. And then it just ends abruptly, with a trashy, unromantic, almost forceful declaration. It's so tremendously sad to know this was written and directed by a woman. We deserve better. This should have been so much better.

#MeToo, Ageism, and Gentrification All in One Movie

I agree with much of the one-star reviews of this movie. The misogyny starts immediately so you won't have any doubts about walking out on this movie. The lead character, who is also the real-life writer, director, and producer, proudly says aloud in a crowded restaurant that she gave five bj's to her boss and some random man in the restaurant to be allowed to make a reservation there for her group of six that night. Moreover, the man, to whom she said that, was impressed with how low the number five was. The misogyny is more of the same after that, right through the very last scene, when she is pressured into having sex, which the audience is stupidly supposed to accept as a romantic moment.Women over the age of 35 are repeatedly described as too old to be beautiful or appealing to men. Women over the age of 50, at least look their age. They are afforded that dignity. However, the price for that dignity is that they're to remain quiet when their husbands and sons lust after a young woman, and invisible until their daughter finds them useful as the babysitter, but only because her child's father isn't available anymore. It never occurs to anyone that grandparents like to see their grandchildren without having to work for that privilege.Visually, this movie looks nice: set design, lighting, wardrobe, hair, makeup. Even the locations in New York look nice because these characters only live in undoubtedly upscale Manhattan or severely gentrified Brooklyn, where no one worries about the thousands of low-income people who were forced out of their homes, away from their jobs, friends, and family to provide this beauty for these oblivious and self-centered people.

Sort of a spoiler (like you can't see it coming, ha!) After Adam Scott was such a jerk I kinda wish she had stayed with Ed Norton. He was perfect in every way.I'm actually reviewing this because my sister and I are sick of seeing the SNL cast in everything. I like Kristen Wiig A LOT, but she gets so much work. Why not give this role to another actor? She's best at madcap comedy. She brought nothing to this part. So she wants to do some dramatic work--no doubt she'll get the chance!Maya Rudolph: She's okay. She's Minnie Ripperton's daughter (a plus). There's nothing special about her--my opinion...everyone is entitled to their own--and she didn't bring anything to this role.Whoever is casting these movies, give other actors a chance! I think I'm going to start boycotting stuff with SNL actors. Enough! already. I'm talking about most of them. I'd love to see more of Eddie Murphy, Garrett Morris, and others that we don't see ad nauseum.
